Egads!
Right, enough of that. Too much has been going on in the recent months, so I haven't had the time to make my way here through all the other places on the Internet. However, I'm here now, and I intend to give you a jolly good update.
Firstly, the work. I am composing music and recording sound effects for a three minute long, completely silent clip from that wonderful film Monsters Inc., and I've already made my life difficult with it. I decided to do the music in 15/8 time signature. Then I decided to throw in four bars of 13/8 now and 9/8. Now, I'm considering doing the main body of the music in 7/8, but breaking out into the others every now and then for a beserk keyboard solo. Or something.
It's difficult, difficult, lemon difficult. But it's my own choice and I'm sticking to it. I could do with a serious challenge for my playing and compositional skills. I'm also setting up a sub record label (although only a theoretical one) called Engine Room Records. It will be bringing you the very best in new Progressive-orientated Rock and Electronic music. Sigma 6 and Mouse will both feature, along with two entirely fictitious bands created purely for the project, Sunken Garden and Breeze. I'm making a website, doing lots of paper work, designing and will eventually be putting together a sampler of music appearing on the label. That means new music! Hooray!
I'm already working on some stuff, but finding the time is incredibly difficult. We've been given essentially no studio time what-so-ever this term, so it looks like it could be another CD of "bedroom demos", which is disappointing, but at least I'll have to finish some ideas off this time around. I'm going to enhance Think/Talk for inclusion, and have a go at finishing the Dusk and Ammonite Song demos, as well as trying to progress Life Science as much as possible. Thanks to a recent epiphany, I now know where to take the behemoth next.
So, it's all go at the moment. I only have two weeks left in this godforsaken pit of a flat (praise the Lord-ah!), then it's back up North for one final week (going to be an interesting one, that one), and then...
We move.
On top of all that, I've got to re-apply to my course for the third year via UCAS as it's technically a different course, but with the big house move looming yonder on the horizon, I don't know exactly how much information I'll be able to give them. They could've let us know about this earlier. But oh well. Get out there, and roll the bones.
It's all you can do, really, isn't it?
